Senate Elections!
February 3, 2010 - 4:48 pm

It seems to already be that time of year once again where we need to vote upon our representatives for Senate, as well as the UBCSUO. As there is one Applied Science specific position, we thought it would be good to give all engineering students the opportunity to know the two candidates for the APSC Student Senate Representative a little bit more. Both candidates were sent out a few quick questions yesterday (considering how swamped all engineers are with homework and other things, I was surprised by the very prompt reply from both!) and their answers to these can be found below.
The UBC Okanagan senate is a place where students have the most influence on the way the university works overall and therefore impact the lives of every student. This is the highest governing academic body on campus, and it drafts things such as the academic calendar, approves new courses, is the final body of appeals for academic issues, and is consulted on all issues pertaining to the academic side of UBC.
There are also six positions open for Senate At Large, which are positions that all students can vote for. For all of those positions and the Student Union positions, I would encourage everyone to go talk to the candidates or check out their Facebook pages.
Voting for this election opens today (Wednesday, February 3rd) from 10AM – 8PM, and continues each weekday until Monday, February 8th around 3:30PM. For exact times, please check the posters found around campus.
