The EUS is adding new events every year. Some of these events have been extremely successful and due to popular demand, have subsequently been made into annual events. Here is a brief description of the annual events you can expect to be invited to in the upcoming school year:

Beauty and the Geek

Beauty and the Geek is a joint effort between your EUS and the Nurses Course Union, hosted at the student Well pub on campus. Tickets usually go on sale in the Arts Foyer and the SSC for 5 dollars in advance and 10 dollars at the door.

OktoberfEUSt

OktoberfEUSt is an annual bear garden held in October in the courtyard at the UBCO campus. The 2008 and 2009 OktoberfEUSt events were both sponsored by OK Springs Brewery.

E-Week

E-Week is an entire week dedicated to engineering. Your EUS works hard to put on several events such as the E-Ball, Skulk Night and Engineering Talks. Check back on the social events page soon for a full calendar of E-Week 2010 events.

Christmas Carolling

Christmas Carolling has become an engineering tradition on the UBC Okanagan campus in which engineering students congregate at the E on a designated day during the last week of classes. From there, engineers continue on to various classrooms and other locations around campus singing Christmas carols to spread the Christmas cheer and raise funds for charity.

Pi Day

Pi Day is celebrated as close as possible to March 14th. Students can purchase a pi and have it delivered to a friend (or an enemy). Half of all proceeds are donated to the Kelowna Community Food Bank.

Pumpkin Drop

Each year, just before Halloween, the engineers gather en masse to flex their engineering skills with a pumpkin drop challenge. The goal is to build a vessel that will protect the pumpkin from a multi-storey drop within the constraints of the limited materials and time that are provided. Points are awarded for team spirit, pumpkin integrity and design with a full panel of faculty judges and coverage provided by local media stations.

Hair For Care

Hair For Care is an annual event to raise money for Cancer research. Download a pledge sheet and come out to support this annual event. More information is available on the Hair For Care page.
